Rhizomatic

Rhizomatic is a plant selection, sourcing, and ecological data platform for web and mobile. It began as a solution to our own problems with tracking site ecology and making careful plant selections. Iterated with Google Sheets, then Notion, then Airtable, Rhizomatic is now a fully fledged Next.js/Postgres app for web and Android (iOS soon).

The app is grounded by the Catalogue of Life's authoritative taxonomy of Earth's critters, bridging taxonomic best-practices and planting design practice. Rhizomatic aggregates species data from USDA's PLANTS database, the TRY Plant Trait database, and GBIF occurance records to build range maps.

Plants are kin, and a database is a strange way to meet them, but a good way to learn who you share the neighborhood with.
